I don’t know about you, but I am always been a big fan of ginger, be it a cooking recipe with ginger or ginger essential oil. So when my CO2 extract ginger essential oil finally arrived, I can’t help but immediately formulate a recipe with it. Today’s ginger bergamot hair conditioner stars 2 lovely essential oils- ginger CO2 extract & bergamot essential oil. Let’s look into the formulation.

Broccoli seed oil
The Broccoli Seed Carrier Oil is extracted using the cold press method. This oil is comprised of over 45% Erucic Acid, an Omega-9 fatty acid recognized to enhance the appearance of healthy-looking hair, as well as contribute to performance in skincare and soap products. Its excellent anti-oxidant profile makes Broccoli Seed Oil an easy substitute for the activity of silicones where the film forming activity results in a natural shine, and cuticle smoothing of the hair while preventing oxidation. The Broccoli Seed Oil is light, non-greasy, and is easily absorbed into the skin. Broccoli Seed Oil has an herbaceous scent that is noticeable if used in large amounts in a product. While in our formulation only 10% of broccoli doesn’t give a very significant scent, I would like to compliment it with ginger essential oil & bergamot essential oil.
For a more potent fragrance from ginger essential oil be sure you buy the one done by CO2 extract. Unlike solvent extracted, instead of hexane, they are extracted using CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas under pressure at ambient temperature.

Directions
- Pour the distilled water into a double-boiler or pyrex beaker. Warm it over a barely-simmered water bath until it is about 70ā85Ā° C. Please take into account the water loss during heating by checking the total weight of the container together with water before heating, and weigh it again after heating, then top up the difference of water volume.
- In a separate double-boiler or pyrex beaker, combine the broccoli seed oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, and BTMS-50. Warm it over a barely-simmered water bath at about 85Ā° C.
- Check the temperatures of both containers. Each container should be about 70ā85Ā° C. Once they are at the correct temperatures, pour the oils and wax into the water and begin mixing with the mini mixer. Blend the mixture for 60ā90 seconds, making sure the oil and water phases are fully emulsified.
- Continue mixing until the temperature drops to about 54ā60Ā° C. Add the ginger & bergamot essential oil and preservative. Stir and mix until completely combined.
- Pour the mixture into jars. Once the mixture is completely cooled, shut the jars and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute the essential oils with any oils that you would like.
This small bottle of yellowish hair conditioner smells divine, and that your hair too! I normally apply it and let it rest for at least 10 minutes for a better result, I do body scrub during the wait. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I do! Happy making!
