One of my favourite skincare is skin exfoliation. I love that after exfoliated skin, so smooth and light. Today this minty coconut salt scrub is your summer version of body scrub. One that created in cubes at your convenience of using it and one that created to give you a sense of refreshing summer vibes.
Ingredients of Minty Coconut Salt Scrub
These Salt Scrub Cubes are made with Epsom salt to scrub away dry skin while virgin coconut oil and avocado oil leave it moisturised and comfortable. This scrub contains only oils but I do include an emulsifier so that during scrubbing, the oil-loving end of the emulsifier will lift the dry skin from your pores as you scrub and the water-loving end of the emulsifier will turn this scrub milky as you wash, leaving no oils on your skin.

How to DIY EPSOM SALT SCRUB
The only challenge of making this salt scrub is the fact that we need to turn it into cubes and yet each cube has an equal amount of Epsom salt suspended on it. But because I love how it is convenient, the fact that I don’t need to spoon out a handful of scrub every time I use it, so, challenge accepted!

Ingredients
Phase A/ 31.2g coconut oil
Phase A/ 54.6g avocado oil
Phase A/ 13g polawax [ US / Europe ]
Phase C/ 1.3g Lemon Essential Oil
Phase C/ 2.6g Peppermint Essential Oil
Directions
- Weigh and transfer all the ingredients of Phase A into a double-boiler. Then warm it over a barely-simmering water bath. Stir and mix until the waxes are melted and totally incorporated with the oils.
- Remove the double-boiler from the water bath. Add in phase B ingredients. Continue to stir and mix.
- Wait till the mixture cool down, drips in ingredients of phase C. Stir and mix again.
- Continue to stir until the salts are suspended in the liquid. At this stage, quickly pour it into the ice cube tray.
- Put the tray into the fridge to cool it down faster. The cubes turn solid after 24 hours of time at room temperature.
- Pop them out from the ice cube tray, voila, it’s done.
Notes
- To use, take one cube to your shower. Gently scrub it all over your body like using a bar of soap after a body wash.
- This scrub is definitely not for the face as it is too rough and scrubby for facial tissue.
- Over time, the cubes can turn sweaty as the temperature changes. You can leave it in the fridge to keep it in shape.
- Polawax is pretty unique for what it can do. You can try to replace it with emulsifying wax if you don’t have one.
- If your Epsom salt is not extra fine, you can start by using a coffee powder blender to break them into extra fine. Skipping this step, you will have very rough and scrubby scrubs. (The proposed Epsom Salt is the recipe is not extra fine)
I love how these Epsom salt scrubs melt as I scrub on my body, and thanks to Polawax, I leave no oily traces in my tub, and definitely, no big clump of scrub falls down to the pipeline. These scrub cubes will leave your skin moisturised and smooth! Try this mess-free scrub and let me know your feedback!
