Today we are going to learn a very robust, polyvalent emulsifier. It acts as a self-emulsifier, binder and plasticizer for anhydrous systems. It offers ultra-light, silky-smooth emulsions & lathering formulas with a rich, pearlescent texture. It is natural origin ingredient according to ISO 16128. It can be used in organic formulation to produce exceptional oil/water emulsions.
INCL | Glyceryl stearate citrate, sucrose stearate, polyglyceryl-4-cocoate, cetyl alcohol, sodium ricinoleate |
Type | Oil-in-water, self-emulsifier, non-ionic, non-ethoxylated |
Appearance | Pellet |
Function | Emulsifier, allows the formation and holding of an emulsion (creamy or milky mixture of an aqueous phase and an oily phase) over time |
Obtain from | Ester of glycerol and stearic acid, ester of sugar, ester of polyglycerol and of coconut fatty acids, cetyl alcohol, castor soap |
Bio Based Content % | 100% vegetable (coconut, palm, castor, sugar) |
Properties | -Plasticizers -Self-emulsifying base: capable of making stable emulsions without adding co-emulsifiers and stabilisers -Self-sufficient The possibility of making very simple emulsions, without adding any fatty phase, simply with water -Allows a very wide range of textures to be achievedfrom the richest and thickest (balms) to the lightest and most fluid (milks, mists) -Use very easily, with the “one-pot” method -This is achieved by mixing all the ingredients of the water and oil phases and the emulsifier in the same preparation bowl. -Allows the incorporation of vegetable oils without heating themThis is done in order to preserve the properties of the sensitive oils as much as possible. Allows the incorporation of half of the aqueous phase (hydrolats…) without heating it. -Forms emulsions with lamellar structures, which favourslong-lasting hydration of the skin, improves the epidermal protectionand increases the bioavailability of active ingredients contained in the treatment. -Shape of the rheofluidizing emulsions making it possible to formulate spray milks, despite their high viscosity. -Can be used in foaming products to form rich, creamy textures, without altering the foaming properties |
Texture | creaminess/rich feel light feeling silky feel smooth vegetal origin |
Application / Recommended for | Hair care (Shampoos, Conditioners & Styling) Perfumes & fragrances Skin care (Facial care, Facial cleansing, Body care, Baby care) Sun care (Sun protection, After-sun & Self-tanning) Toiletries (Shower & Bath, Oral care…) |
